Meeting Night

Navy blue, lime green and orange...a beautiful combination! Just a few more blocks, some sashing and a border will complete this comfort quilt.

This comfort quilt is ready to be delivered...

Some trimming and binding for this one...

And this top needs machine quilting!

A few more peaked insert quilt tops finished and shared!

Thanks to the members who brought 5 1/2" squares cut from a man's shirt!  You'll get your bag back at the next meeting with instructions.

Tables filled with books, buttons, fabric, magazines, wool, clips, thread, pillows, panels, and sew much more were part of the 'yard sale'.  So, as it turns out, "One quilter's stash, is another quilter's treasure"...  is a great way to raise funds for the guild stash!

Thanks to Anne for hosting and Jacqui for leading the discussion!

p.s.  This blog is now public.

Peaked Insert Workshop

On the last Friday in March, an eager group of quilters met to learn the technique for creating a quilt using a panel and co-ordinating fabrics!

Mary Lou, an experienced and talented quilter, shared her knowledge and expertise for planning, calculating and piecing our fabric.  She showed us several quilts that she has made using this method, which served as an inspiration for our quilts.

It was a day filled with measuring, cutting, sewing, measuring, cutting, ripping, sewing, cutting, sewing ... lunch and then more sewing!

Joanne doing her thing :)

Diane is so focussed!

One more project for Jacqui.

Challenge Project Reveal

Oh, What a Night!

Well that was a memorable evening! The outstanding talents of the guild members were shared at our 'Challenge Project' reveal meeting in March.

At one of our fall meetings, guild members did a 'Fold It-Snip It-Rip It-Drop It-Pass It-Make It' activity. Each member brought one yard of batik fabric and a pair of scissors.  We then stood in a circle and after 7 rounds of snip it, rip it, drop it and pass it, we left with 7 different pieces of batik fabric, each one half the size of the last one.  These pieces were to be used in any way to create a project of our choice, with the option to add any fabrics or other materials.

The creativity shared...

What a challenge for the judges, Lorna and Heather!!!

Thank you to Jacqui and Fran for hosting our meeting.
