May Meeting

It certainly felt like a May evening as the guild met for our meeting!  Sharing, sharing and more sharing... fibre arts, ideas, quilt shows, patterns, quilt blocks and so much more.

Appreciation of the Arts

Thank you Diane for co-ordinating the display of our projects at this event.

Pat sharing one of her new found passions! She's certainly a busy lady :)

Thanks to those members who were interested in sewing comfort quilt from men's shirts.  Please bring your completed rows/blocks to our next meeting.

Delicious rhubarb squares Beth. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Meeting Night

Navy blue, lime green and orange...a beautiful combination! Just a few more blocks, some sashing and a border will complete this comfort quilt.

This comfort quilt is ready to be delivered...

Some trimming and binding for this one...

And this top needs machine quilting!

A few more peaked insert quilt tops finished and shared!

Thanks to the members who brought 5 1/2" squares cut from a man's shirt!  You'll get your bag back at the next meeting with instructions.

Tables filled with books, buttons, fabric, magazines, wool, clips, thread, pillows, panels, and sew much more were part of the 'yard sale'.  So, as it turns out, "One quilter's stash, is another quilter's treasure"...  is a great way to raise funds for the guild stash!

Thanks to Anne for hosting and Jacqui for leading the discussion!

p.s.  This blog is now public.

Peaked Insert Workshop

On the last Friday in March, an eager group of quilters met to learn the technique for creating a quilt using a panel and co-ordinating fabrics!

Mary Lou, an experienced and talented quilter, shared her knowledge and expertise for planning, calculating and piecing our fabric.  She showed us several quilts that she has made using this method, which served as an inspiration for our quilts.

It was a day filled with measuring, cutting, sewing, measuring, cutting, ripping, sewing, cutting, sewing ... lunch and then more sewing!

Joanne doing her thing :)

Diane is so focussed!

One more project for Jacqui.

Anne taking a short coffee break.

Fran...persevering with that panel!

Another one done...right Beth!

That's right...Julie

Beautiful fabric Yvonne.

Gail...so ready to sew.

Chris...should I measure again?

We've got this!!!

Sharing!

Quilting workshop days take plenty of planning, so a huge thank you to Anne and Jacqui for organizing this day and providing a delicious  lunch!

A sincere thank you to Mary Lou for sharing her quilting gifts with us!
